This week in our Meet the Maker series, we’re thrilled to introduce Woohoo Body, the brainchild of Aaron and Phoebe — a husband-and-wife team from Newcastle, NSW, whose journey began with a humble kitchen experiment and a big dream. What started in 2010 as Happy Skincare has since blossomed into Woohoo Body: a vibrant, values-driven brand crafting natural, vegan, and plastic-free personal care products that actually work — even for the most sensitive skin.

Motivated by a passion for health, wellness, and a deep respect for our planet, Aaron and Phoebe set out to fill a gap in the market for truly effective natural deodorants. Fast forward to today, Woohoo Body’s range includes everything from deodorants to skincare and haircare, all created in-house with native Australian botanicals and housed in planet-friendly packaging. Their commitment to sustainability is more than skin-deep — they’re proudly certified Plastic Negative, removing twice as much plastic from the environment as they use.

1. Can you tell us a bit about yourself and your journey?

G'day! We're Aaron and Phoebe, a husband-and-wife duo from Newcastle, NSW. Our journey began in 2010 with our first natural skincare brand, Happy Skincare. As self-confessed mix-a-holics with a passion for health and wellness, we started blending products in our kitchen. This passion evolved into Woohoo Body, where we create natural, vegan, and effective personal care products.

2. What inspired you to start your eco-friendly business?

Our inspiration stemmed from a desire to create products that are both kind to your body and the planet. Back in 2015 we recognised a gap in the market for natural deodorants that truly work, leading us to develop our own formulations that are effective, vegan, environmentally conscious, and (most importantly!) work for everyone, even those of us with very sensitive skin.

3. Tell us about the products you make. What makes them unique?

We craft a range of highly effective natural deodorants, skincare, and haircare products. Our deodorants are 100% natural, vegan, and plastic free. What sets us apart is our commitment to clean, vegan ingredients and our focus on creating formulations that are gentle yet very effective, all housed in planet-friendly packaging. 4. How do you source your materials?

We prioritize sourcing high-quality, natural, and vegan ingredients, with a special emphasis on Australia's potent native botanicals. Our formulations are developed in-house, allowing us to maintain strict quality control and ensure that every product aligns with our sustainability values.

5. What does sustainability mean to you and your business?

Sustainability is at the core of everything we do. From our product formulations to our packaging choices, we strive to minimise our environmental impact. We're proud to be certified Plastic Negative, meaning we remove twice as much plastic from the environment as we use in our products.

6. What challenges have you faced in building a sustainable brand?

One of our biggest challenges has been finding packaging solutions that are eco-friendly, functional, and affordable. Balancing sustainability with product integrity requires constant innovation and sometimes tough compromises. However, we're committed to continuous improvement and transparency in our sustainability journey.

7. What are you most proud of in your journey so far?

We're incredibly proud of the community we've built and the positive impact our products have had on our customers' lives. Hearing feedback about how our products have helped people feel more confident and comfortable in their skin is the most rewarding part of our journey.

8. Any tips for customers who want to live a more eco-friendly lifestyle?

Start small and make incremental changes. Opt for products with biodegradable or recyclable packaging, reduce single-use plastics, and support brands that prioritise sustainability. Every small step contributes to a larger positive impact on our planet.

10. Finally, what does the future hold for your brand?

We're excited to continue innovating and expanding our product range while deepening our commitment to sustainability. Our goal is to make eco-friendly personal care accessible to everyone and to inspire positive change within the industry. In the short term, June and July 2025 saw the successful re-launch of new formulas across the entire Woohoo Body deodorant range. We’ve also got some limited edition creations coming later this year!
